Waitakere pig control

The ongoing pig control programme in the Waitakere ranges has recently been stepped up in response to kauri die back.

Pigs have been identified as a likely vector of the disease and soil samples from pigs caught in the programme are being analysed for presence of PTA spores.

Regular pig monitoring is conducted in association with Landcare Research to ensure that the population is kept at a low level.
