Future CEF funding rounds
The ARC has decided to phase out seabed licence fees in response to requests from recreational boaties that a more equitable system be developed. In the past, the ARC has collected funding from seabed licence fees charged to three marinas: Half Moon Bay, Bucklands Beach Yacht Club and West Park Marina, as these marinas hold licences for the occupation of the seabed. CEF is funded by seabed licence fees. CEF provides grants to community and non-profit organisations for projects that protect and enhance coastal water and marine diversity, and promote safe navigation and water safety. The ARC is to phase out seabed licence fees over four years, with corresponding reductions in the CEF.
All funds have now been allocated in the 2009/10 funding round. A further announcement on any future funding rounds will follow later this year.
