Resource consents fees subsidy

for not for profit community organisations

Background

Funding is currently available annually to assist not for profit community organisations to meet the cost of Air and Water resource consent applications.  This is administered by the Environmental Programmes and Partnerships Team.

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be a not for profit community organisation with legal status (either a trust, incorporated society and / or have donee status under the Income Tax Act 2007)
  • Applicants must have a current Air and Water resource consent application lodged with the Auckland  Council.

What is the amount of the subsidy?

Applicants can expect to receive a maximum subsidy of $1,000.

When do we apply?

You should submit your application for a subsidy to the Environmental Programmes and Partnerships Team at the same time as you lodge your resource consent with the Resource Consents Department.

How is the subsidy provided?

You must pay the full fixed deposit fee to the Auckland Council when lodging your resource consent application.  Your application for a subsidy will not be processed until your application for resource consent has been accepted for processing.

If you are granted a subsidy, the amount will be paid to you as a reimbursement into the bank account you state in your application form.  This reimbursement is made by the Environmental Programmes and Partnerships Team.

How are applications assessed?

Applications are assessed in relation to four funding criteria:

  • Community benefit of the organisation applying for the subsidy
  • Alignment of the organisation's work with one or more of the Auckland Regional Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) Regional Community Outcomes
  • Community benefit of the activity for which consent is sought
  • Financial need of the organisation applying for the subsidy

What are the LTCCP Community Outcomes?

The Auckland Regional Long-Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) 2009-19 is the former Auckland Regional Council’s plan for the next 10 years with specific detail around the first three years (2009-12). Regional Community Outcomes are central to this plan.  They were identified through consultation with a wide range of communities and groups across the region.  The following outcomes are relevant to this subsidy:

Outcome One: Access, choice and opportunity

  • Organisations that build the capacity and provide opportunities for people to improve and care for the region's natural, cultural and physical environment.
  • This includes education, skills development, training and taking action, awareness raising, disability access, health and fitness related to caring for the local environment and heritage.

Outcome Two: Caring for people

  • Organisations that build community, cultural identity, knowledge and a sense of belonging.
  • This includes heritage values, cultural knowledge, equal opportunities and healthy lifestyles focused on connecting people with the region's environments and heritage.

Outcome Three: Caring for place

  • Organisations that improve or restore particular locations or the physical environment.
  • This includes archaeological sites, landmark buildings, streams, wetlands, ecological areas, significant landscapes, public spaces and built environments.

How is funding allocated?

$20,000 is currently available for subsidies.  This is allocated to organisations that fulfil the funding criteria on a first come first served basis until the funding is exhausted.

How long will it take for our application for a subsidy to be processed?

Subject to all required information being supplied, we aim to process your application within 20 working days of receipt.  If successful, payment will be made directly into your organisation’s bank account.

Are there any other conditions?

You must confirm that the total of funding provided from external sources towards the resource consent fee, including an Auckland Council subsidy if granted, will not be more than 100% of the consent application fee.
