Harbourmaster
Recreational boating
New Zealand is one of the highest boat owning populations in the world, with more than 150,000 vessels in the Auckland region alone.
It's important that all vessel owners be informed of the rules and regulations governing the harbours, and any notices or directions to mariners. These have been devised to ensure harbours and channels are clear and open to navigation, and safe for all to users.
Civil Defence
The ARC Harbourmasters' office is responsible for the Civil Defence Response within the waters of the Auckland region. This is part of the coordinated Civil Defence Management for the Auckland Region. This includes ensuring the co-ordination of vessel movements prior to or during any civil defence event, notifications to facility owners, operators and vessels.
Harbourmaster's Education Kit
We have developed a Harbourmaster's Education Kit, which includes a copy of the Boaties Book, Harbour Users Guide, Moorings Information brochure, Jetski and Personal Watercraft Guide, Safe Boating guide, a harbour marks and information sticker, and a DVD of safe Boating New Zealand.
