Stormwater management devices

Design guideline manual (TP10) is a guideline for developers to choose and design constructed water quality treatment devices, and water volume management.

The manual provides more guidance on practice selection including:

  • a preference for wetlands over ponds
  • a preference for vegetative filters (rain gardens, swales, wetlands, filter strips)
  • promoting detention to protect streams from erosion
  • enhancements to allow the use of swales as a stand alone practice
  • volume control
  • integrating landscaping issues with device design
  • outlet protection for erosion control
  • construction and maintenance monitoring checklists
  • household rainwater detention tanks
  • green roofs.
