The Dartford, official number 76975, was built in Sunderland in 1877. She was an iron-hulled fully rigged ship of 1327 tons.

1908The Dartford was purchased by the Union Steam Ship Company in 1908 for use as a training ship and was owned by the company until 1926.
1914Converted to a hulk at Wellington in 1914.
1916 - 1921She was recommissioned as a barque in 1916. The Dartford made two trips to Auckland, on 20 November 1920 and 21 February 1921.
Disposal

Unidentifiied hulk (Dartford), Wreck Bay

After her last trip to Auckland, the Dartford lay in the harbour for a month, then was dismantled and converted to a hulk on 10 March 1921. She was beached on Rangitoto 25 July 1946.
TODAYThe remains of the Dartford have not yet been positively identified amongst the wreckage on Rangitoto, but are thought to lie alongside the remains of the Ngapuhi, at Wreck Bay.
