Background to Auckland Regional Policy Statement: Proposed Private Change 15 – Extension to the Metropolitan Urban Limits, Hibiscus Coast Gateway
Pursuant to the first schedule, clause 25 (2) (b) of the Resource Management Act 1991, the Auckland Regional Council has resolved to accept and notify in whole the request by Rodney District Council to extend the metropolitan urban limits for the ‘Hibiscus Coast Gateway’. The MUL extension will provide additional urban capacity of 95ha for the Hibiscus Coast Gateway, providing for recreation and entertainment activities, specialist retail and some ancillary activities. Proposed ARPS private change 15 will involve an amendment to map series 1: sheet 3 of the Auckland Regional Policy Statement.
Submitters are advised that the metropolitan urban limit does not in itself allow urbanisation to occur. The Rodney District Plan will also need to be changed so that this land can be rezoned for recreation and entertainment activities, specialist retail and some ancillary activities. Rodney District Council is therefore also proposing changes to their District Plan (RDC District Plan Proposed Variation 123). For further details on this change please contact Rodney District Council on 0800 426 5169 or visit their website.
Proposed Auckland Regional Plan: Air, Land and Water Proposed Variation 5: Extension to the Urban Air Quality Management Areas for the ‘Hibiscus Coast Gateway’
The Hibiscus Coast Gateway area is currently within a Rural Air Quality Management Area under the Proposed Auckland Regional Plan: Air, Land and Water. In the event that the MUL extension is confirmed, a variation will be required to this Plan so that the urban air quality management can be applied to this area. Proposed Variation 5 to the PARP: ALW has therefore been prepared to reflect the proposed extension to the MUL.
Proposed Variation 5 to the PARP: ALW will involve an amendment to Map Series 1 – Maps 16 and 20 and Map Series 1A - Maps 23 and 116 of the Proposed Auckland Regional Plan: Air, Land and Water.
