Live it, love it
The Auckland region is rich with living history, natural beauty, stories and experiences. So find your own special place!
How to enjoy what Auckland has to offer:
- Escape to one of the ARC's 26 regional parks.
- Become a volunteer in one of our regional parks.
- Explore your local reserves and historic sites.
- Visit the Auckland region's conservation islands and reserves.
- Take the kids to the Children's Garden at Auckland Botanic Gardens.
- Treasure your parks and local reserves. Take rubbish home where it can be recycled, keep to the tracks, leave gates as you find them and follow codes.
- Learn about your local history, the stories behind your local place names, the origins of your community - then tell others. Start by checking out your local library, museum or local council.
What is the ARC doing?
More than 100,000 native plants and shrubs are planted each year for conservation purposes.
Through our 'Learning through experience' programme over 25,000 school children each year visit regional parks and participate in environmental education programmes.
The ARC works with agencies and communities to conserve our historic heritage, such as buildings and archaeological sites.
