Population projections
Population projections for the region are generated by our in-house population projection model. The projections use the assumption data from Statistics New Zealand and are output in five yearly increments from 2006 to 2051.
The ARC population projection model can generate outputs in any combination of low, medium and high scenario for each of the components of growth (fertility, survivorship, and migration). The outputs below are based on a medium growth scenario for all the councils in the region.
It is important to note that the results of the ARC population projection model, like all projection models, are not designed to be exact forecasts or to project specific annual variation. Therefore, the projections should be used as guidelines and an indication of the overall trend, rather than as exact forecasts.
