ASF headline indicators 2008
The first ASF Headline Indicators report has been released and can be viewed below. This is a set of 16 indicators that start to investigate the following questions as outlined in the ASF:
- Do we participate in and feel part of our communities?
- Is our wealth increasing, and is our wealth increasing inclusively?
- Do we provide fair opportunities for everyone?
- Are the region's ecological systems and natural resource base healthy and resilient?
- Are we stabilising and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions?
- Does the region have a distinct identity where diversity is accepted?
These headline indicators will be updated annually and may change over time.
In addition to these 16 headline indicators, work is underway to provide a comprehensive and integrated monitoring system that explores issues in some more detail. We are not starting from scratch, as there is already a wealth of indicators and measures currently being monitored by different organisations. In 2009, the findings from the Auckland regional Community Outcomes Monitoring process and the Auckland regional State of the Environment reporting will provide the next wave of monitoring. This is expected to be complete in the second half of 2009.
