Tank Farm waterfront development
Waterfront rejuvenation begins
The transformation of the Tank Farm into an urban village with green parks, plazas, boulevards, shops, apartments and restaurants will be a major asset for the Auckland region.
At centre stage of the redevelopment will be a future 4.25 hectare headland park which the ARC will jointly own and manage with Auckland City Council.
There will also be 2.4 km of publicly accessible waterfront, a working fishing wharf and a marine events precinct as well as a waterfront promenade along Jellicoe St, with new shops, restaurants and bars.
The new public area is in response to the public's wish for more access to the water, open space and a greater mix of land uses.
You can find further information on the waterfront rejuventation project on the Sea+City website, or download the June edition of RegionWide here - RegionWide June 2007.
Coastal Plan Change for Wynyard Quarter
The ARC has proposed changes to the Regional Plan: Coastal relating specifically to the coastal marine area (the water space and wharves) around Wynyard Quarter (also known as the Western Reclamation, Wynyard Point and the Tank Farm). This plan change amends the Regional Plan: Coastal to provide for the changes expected in the area, as part of the proposed redevelopment of the entire Wynyard Quarter, which is addressed by the proposed changes to the Auckland City District Plan (Central Area Section).
The ARC's coastal plan change can be viewed at: coastal plan change. Submissions on the plan closed on 20 August 2007. The summary of decisions requested in submissions to Plan Change 3 was notified on Tuesday 23 October 2007.
Anyone may view the summary documents and make further submissions in support of, or in opposition to, the original submissions. The closing date for further submissions is Friday 7 December 2007.
