Development concept

The objective is to transform this area into an urban village with green parks, plazas, boulevards, shops, apartments and restaurants, creating a major asset for the Auckland region.

At centre stage of the redevelopment will be a future 4.25 hectare headland park which the Auckland Regional Council will jointly own and manage with Auckland City Council.

There will also be 2.4km of publicly accessible waterfront, a working fishing wharf and a marine events precinct as well as a waterfront promenade along Jellicoe Street, with new shops, restaurants and bars.

The new public area is in response to the public's wish for more access to the water, open space and a greater mix of land uses.

The existing marine and fishing industries located at Wynyard Quarter make an important contribution to the region. They will be retained in the redevelopment.
