Local Governance Statement

Section 40 of the Local Government Act 2002 requires that all councils in New Zealand must prepare, within six months of the triennial elections a local governance statement. The purpose is to provide information on functions, responsibilities, organisational structures, consultation policies, the electoral system and similar information to electors and to ensure that this information is publicly available.

The Local Governance Statement for the Auckland Regional Council was prepared in March 2008 and made publicly available in April 2008.
