Sandra Coney

Sandra Coney has represented Waitakere on the ARC since 2001, and served as Deputy Chair of the Parks and Heritage Committee. Sandra is passionate about the long-term protection of the Waitakere Ranges and during her first term was involved in the political liaison group that heard local concerns about the effects of inappropriate development in the ranges. Sandra has been a journalist, writer and executive director of Women's Health Action Trust. She is the author of History of Piha and the Piha website. Sandra continues the heritage of her father Tom Pearce, a former ARC chairman, who served from 1965 to 1976.
