Get cracking if you want to nominate a deserving person or group for a Sustainable Environment Award. Nominations close in less than a week.

These Auckland Regional Council awards, which are held every two years, honour the dedicated people behind the region's great environmental and heritage projects.

You can then make an online nomination for yourself or someone else, or phone 09 366 2000 (0800 80 60 40 if you're outside the Auckland free calling area). Nominations close on Wednesday 4 November.

The 2009 awards have seven categories, including three new recycling categories.
