A single plan for the Auckland city-region.

Update, May 2007.

The Auckland Regional Council, local councils and central government are continuing to develop a single plan for the Auckland region.

The single plan is integrating transport, future land use and economic development strategies to create one regional plan that focuses on long term sustainability.

The concept of ‘One Plan' has been formally endorsed by all councils and central government as a component of a package of reforms to strengthen regional governance.

Along with the wider governance proposals, the ARC will deliver the final one plan framework to councils and Cabinet in July 2007.

Demonstrate strong and united leadership - Auckland's governance proposal to central government

Update, May 2007.

Auckland's leadership and delivery have been under the microscope as local councils have worked with Central Government to consider the best governance for Auckland in the future.

In December 2006, a joint proposal of reforms to strengthen regional governance from Auckland's councils was delivered to Minister of Local Government Mark Burton.

Central government and councils are continuing to develop the concept of a Regional Sustainable Development Forum to the point that recommendations can be made to councils and Cabinet in July 2007 to implement it.

Establish well-resourced and well-coordinated response and delivery mechanisms

Update, May 2007.
