We take your privacy seriously.

As a New Zealand citizen or resident, you have rights under the Privacy Act (1993) in relation to the access, storage and use of your personal information.

More specifically you have the right to:

  • access your personal information held by an agency
  • request incorrect information be amended
  • expect the information to be safely stored and used by or disclosed to authorised users
  • expect the data to be accurate and consistent in accordance with sound practices of record keeping and information systems management.

Use and disclosure of information

"The information you have supplied is required by the Auckland Regional Council Navigation Safety Bylaw (2000) and will be used to maintain a register of personal water craft using Auckland waters. Access to the information is confined to authorised users, including officials from the Regional Council and Emergency Services. The information can not be accessed by employees of the database service provider other than for purposes directly related to database management."

Access and correction

Under the Privacy Act (1993), you have the right to have access to, and request the correction of, the information held by us concerning you.
