Landowner Assistance Fund

MAP has a Landowner Assistance Fund (LAF) which has grants available for improvement and restoration projects that will help to:

  • protect and enhance land, streams and waterways
  • reduce the potential for silt (sediment) run-off and build up.

These projects could include:

  • fencing-off streams, waterways and wetlands in priority sub-catchment areas and properties identified by the ARC for farm plan development
  • undertaking riparian planting in priority subcatchment areas and properties identified by the ARC for farm plan development
  • retiring erosion-prone land
  • changing land management practices.

The 2009/10 funding round is now closed.  Future MAP LAF funding rounds will be announced in due course.

For an application to be successful, it must meet the following criteria:

  • All applications must be on a cost-sharing basis, between the landowner and the ARC.
  • The proposal must bring a new area under protection, and must provide benefits by preventing and/or mitigating erosion.
  • There must be an on-going commitment to maintenance and management by the property owner, via a Memorandum of Understanding.
  • The proposal must be designed to be self-supporting, without on-going financial contributions from the ARC.
  • The proposal must comply with ARC's best practice requirements, as appropriate for the site.
  • Preference is given to properties in the priority sub-catchments and properties that have a MAP farm plan.

To review the full list of criteria, please refer to the Grants Funding Guide for Applicants document attached below.

Please read the attached documents before you submit an application:

Farm plans

MAP funds farm plans within priority sub-catchments. Working with property owners, farm plans have been developed that identify the main environmental issues on a farm and the actions needed to address them. Forty farm plans have been developed.

Priority sub-catchments

As part of the silt (sediment) tracing research, priority sub-catchments (Duck Creek and Dyers Creek) were identified. These were primarily chosen because of the amount of silt that was being generated, but other factors such as restoration potential and community involvement was also considered. Please see attached map of priority sub-catchments.
