Whangateau implementation project
Getting involved
Whangateau Forum
The Whangateau Forum is a collection of community groups and members who are interested in the long term health of the Whangateau Harbour. Key activities include:
- Prevent problems and protect the Harbour through monitoring and education so that issues were picked up at an early stage;
- influence decision-making (including collective submissions to Annual Plans);
- To advise on strategic priorities and focus; To share knowledge and information
- To develop relationships across agencies, communities and groups;
The Forum agreed that it was essential to invite representatives from participating groups, who would then have a mandate to speak for the group, but that the general public and interested individuals would be welcome to participate as well.
