Coastal Enhancement Fund (CEF)

The CEF aims to support groups and individuals whose projects will enhance, restore and protect Auckland's coastline.

Auckland Regional Council (ARC) has the responsibility for the administration of licences for three marinas, and collects an annual seabed and licence fee. The ARC collects seabed licence fees (rentals) from Half Moon Bay, Westpark and Buckland's Beach Yacht Club.

This income is allocated to coastal projects under the scrutiny of the Coastal Enhancement Fund (CEF).

Around $412,000 is available annually to support groups and individuals whose projects will enhance, restore and protect Auckland's coastal marine area (CMA).

CEF funding round - opening and closing dates

Another funding round will open on 10 December 2008 and close on 28 February 2009 to uplift the funds for the 2009/2010 financial year. Successful projects will be subject to Annual Plan approvals in June 2009. Letters will be sent in July 2009 advising whether grant applications have been successful.

The total funds available in this round are approximately $336,353.

Applicants will be updated on any interim funding rounds for the 2009/10 funding year after July 2009.

The new funding criteria and online application form will be made available on the ARC website from 10 December 2008. When submitting your application, please ensure that the updated online application form has been completed and you have referred to the amended funding criteria when completing.

Important: Please note that all applications should be received by the CEF Coordinator by 5pm on the closing date (28 February 2009). Any applications submitted AFTER this time will be deemed ineligible. Applications must be submitted by email or post - faxed copies of applications will be deemed ineligible.
