Stormwater
Harbours and estuaries DVD
Life in Auckland's harbours and estuaries - the threat of stormwater and sediment
Duration: 20 minutes
Release: 27 May 2009
Head off on a journey of discovery with TV's Judy Bailey and learn about the wonderful and complex web of life in Auckland's harbours and estuaries.
Relying on clean water, these unique marine ecosystems are under threat.
Stormwater run off containing contaminants from cars, building materials and urban activities is heading straight down kerbside drains and into our harbours and estuaries, and sediment from land cleared for development or deforested is silting them up.
While the ARC and many other councils, community groups and individuals are working hard to reverse this, it's up to us all to learn how we can protect our great blue backyard.
