Pram access
Access for prams is possible around most of the park following the formed roads. The roads have a good surface for off-road prams to explore the views or walk to the harbour. There are steep sections of road and you may need to lift your pram over gates at times.

The surface of the car park is loose gravel, however there are wide grassed areas on the perimeter of the car park where it is possible to park your car and push your wheelchair over the grass. There is no defined parking and none designated for mobility parking.

The picnic table has been designed to accommodate a wheelchair at the end. Some assistance may be required to push the wheelchair to the table.

Auckland Botanic Gardens

There are many sealed paths for prams. Don't forget to check out the Potter Children's garden or take a ride on the Wiri Rambler tractor.

There are 3 designated car parks and a drop off area. Limited mobility vehicles are also permitted to drive around the garden's internal loop road on weekdays. This is a coastal farm park with beautiful views of the Hauraki Gulf and few man-made structures. The land is predominately gently undulating grassland. Parts of the Park are accessible to mobility impaired visitors, particularly on the well-structured paths, even if the ground is wet. Huia is a crucial water catchment area for the Auckland region and the Lower Huia Reservoir is the most accessible of its five dams. Follow Huia Rd through Huia itself. Immediately after crossing the bridge to Little Huia, turn right and drive up the top of the dam to see the expansive views.

Hunua Ranges

It is possible to take a pram to all four dams from the car parks.

Long Bay has a great deal to offer people with limited mobility. The southern end of the park is made up of grassed areas bordered by a long sandy beach on one side and a road on the other. There are accessible car parks near each of the 3 toilet blocks. North ground: grass car parks are flat and accessible. Playground: marked mobility car park on tarmac. South ground: marked mobility car park on tarmac. These car parks are monitored for unauthorised use by the park rangers.

Mahurangi

Pram access
Sullivans Bay has reasonable pram access across the grass picnic areas. Scotts Point board walk is great for prams, however there are two short sections where you may need to carry the pram over the sand.

Much of Mahurangi is not suitable for those with limited mobility.

Glen Esk - this area has a flat picnic area close to the carpark with a flat metalled loop walk. Not suitable for wheelchairs but very popular with elderly visitors who like to enjoy a picnic at this tranquil spot with minimum effort.

Scandrett

Shakespear

All beaches have reasonable pram access with Okoromai Bay having large grassy flat areas. There are also grass verges along all the roads suitable for prams. If you park at the lookout car park you can take your pram to the lookout. You'll need to push your pram over the two cattle stops to get to there.
