Wenderholm
Schischka Bach, Wenderholm
Schischka House is a large farm homestead on the waters edge, with wide corridors and doorways. All of the five bedrooms readily accommodate wheelchairs and the accessible bathroom is equally roomy. The overall spaciousness of the house makes it totally suitable for all wheelchair users together with any additional equipment that may be needed, such as a portable hoist.
Entrances
The main front entry is via a wooden ramp. This is the only accessible entrance. No handrails are provided. Care must be taken at the bottom edge of the ramp - wheelchair users should be assisted descending, especially if the ramp is wet and slippery.
The entry door meets minimum Code compliance and the code control is positioned at a reachable height.
Kitchen
The kitchen is roomy and the bench height is 910mm throughout.
Bathroom
The accessible bathroom is very functional for all people with disabilities. The toilet pan height is the required 460mm, however the wash hand basin is not in front of the pan so taps are not reachable whilst sitting on the toilet.
The shower head should be reachable for most users sitting on the shower seat if it is positioned at the lower end of the rail holding the shower hose. The shower seat is a generous width.
Deck
The deck is readily accessible and the picnic table is designed to accommodate wheelchair users on the ends.
