Perimeter Walk

Native forest, tidal estuaries with life-giving mangroves (manawa), open paddocks, coastal views, shady pöhutukawa and a Mäori pä site – this easy, one hour walk around the park has it all. Take the short detour to the lookout and you will be rewarded with expansive views to Waiheke Island and the inner Hauraki Gulf.

What to expect:

Walking tracks will:

  • have easy to moderate grades with drained surfaces, generally consisting of a compacted and drained surfaces.
  • be well sign-posted with directional signs at track entrances and junctions and have safety signs where required.

Walking tracks may:

  • have steps on excessively steep areas.
  • have timber boardwalks and bridges over permanent wet areas and waterways.
  • have seats and maintained views at areas of interest.
  • Walking tracks should be suitable for people with reasonable fitness levels.

Theft from vehicles is not common but unfortunately can happen. You should take the same reasonable precautions you take when parking at other locations and remember to lock your vehicle and take your valuables with you.

How to get to Omana

Turn off State Highway 1 at Highbrook Drive and bear left. Continue into Allens Road and turn left at Te Irirangi Drive. Turn right into Ti Rakau Drive at Botany Town Centre then left into Chapel Road. Turn right at the next roundabout (1.6km)onto Whitford Road. Travel straight through the next two roundabouts (5.6km). Continue through Whitford Roundabout and follow the Whitford Maraetai road (10km). The park is on the left just before you enter the township.
