A metal side road off the main access road, at the end of the tar seal, to the left. At this point there is the locked access gate with a combination lock. Approx. 550 metres down the metal road you pass the front of the park cattle yards and then enter

How to get to Tawharanui

Take State Highway 1 north to Warkworth. Follow the signs to Matakana. Just past Matakana turn right at the Omaha turn off, drive along Takatu Rd and the park is well sign posted. (Note: the last 6km of the route is a winding gravel road).
