This page outlines the Auckland Regional Council's Annual Plan 2008/09 and amendments to the Long-Term Council Community Plan 2006-16, first published in July 2008 and updated in November 2008.

The Annual Plan sets out the work programme and budget for the next 12 months (July 2008 to June 2009). It is based on the third year of the ARC's Long-Term Council Community Plan 2006-16 (LTCCP) and includes amendments to the ten-year plan.

In April/May 2008, the ARC undertook consultation with the public and key stakeholders on its Annual Plan 2008/09 and proposed amendments to its LTCCP 2006-16. The consultation included a proposal to implement a regional fuel tax to support the electrification of Auckland's regional rail network and other improvements to public transport. This amendment was not included in the final annual plan document published in July 2008. Since then, Council has resolved to proceed with the amendment to the transport sections of the LTCCP 2006-16 to reflect recent developments in the passage of the Land Transport Management Amendment Act 2008. The Act allows the Council to receive revenue from a regional fuel tax and the Council's response to amend its plans for the years 2009/10 to 2015/16. This amendment document, see below, contains only those sections of the LTCCP that have changed.

Chapter 1 - Overview

Chapter 2 - Amendments to the LTCCP 2006-16

This chapter includes the amendments to the LTCCP 2006-16 including:
- a contribution to the redevelopment of Eden Park to be paid in 2010/11
- new targeted rates for possum control in Awhitu and South Kaipara
- a change to the rating policy for postponement of rates on coastal farmlands to be extended to other rural farms
- minor modifications to the transport rate area boundary map
- the transfer of functions, duties and powers under the Building Act 2004
- the removal of Schedule 7.1 Schedule of Services and Fees from the Auckland Regional Navigation Safety Bylaws. These fees will now be managed through the Annual Plan process.
