Auckland Regional Policy Statement
The Auckland Regional Policy Statement (ARPS) is a statement about managing the use, development and protection of the natural and physical resources of the region.
The ARPS became operative on 31 August 1999.
Copies of all proposed plan changes and decision reports in respect of the ARPS can be viewed on this website, at central public libraries in the Auckland Region and at the ARC Customer Services Counter, Ground Floor, 21 Pitt Street, Auckland.
Review of the ARPS
The ARPS has been under review since 2008. Because of the changes to the way the Auckland region is governed, which come into effect on 1 November 2010, the ARC has decided not to publicly notify the draft ARPS. Instead the final draft of the reviewed ARPS will go forward to the Auckland Council for its consideration after 1 November 2010.
This means there will be no public consultation on the draft document in the term of the current council. The new Auckland Council may wish to consult on all or some of the draft policies as it develops a planning framework for the region.
The operative ARPS is set out below. You can download the full document - or by chapters. It should be read in conjunction with the proposed changes to this document (see the menu on the left side of this page).
