The ARPS sets in place the policy for promoting the sustainable management of the Auckland region's resources. It aims to achieve this in an integrated, consistent and co-ordinated manner. The ARPS provides greater certainty over the way natural and physical resources are to be managed and creates awareness of the constraints and opportunities in the Auckland region. It also clarifies the respective roles of the agencies with responsibilities under the Resource Management Act (RMA) in this region.

The ARPS became operative on 31 August 1999.

Copies of all proposed plan changes and decision reports in respect of the ARPS can be viewed on this website, at central public libraries in the Auckland Region and at the ARC Customer Services Counter, Ground Floor, 21 Pitt Street, Auckland.

The Operative ARPS is set out below. You can download the full document - or by chapters.
