Proposed Change 10: Natural Hazards

Proposed Change 10 amends the Auckland Regional Policy Statement (ARPS) to:

  • provide clarity surrounding roles and responsibilities with respect to natural hazards management
  • address a more comprehensive range of natural hazards and hazard management responses and
  • update the legislative framework.

Decisions and appeals

Hearings on Proposed Change 10 have been held and the decision notice was released in February 2007.

Auckland City Council and Metrowater Limited subsequently lodged an appeal to Proposed Change 10 (Auckland City Council & Ors v Auckland Regional Council: ENV-2007-AKL-000288). This appeal relates to the level of flood protection required by the ARPS and the application of this flood protection standard to activities other than residential activities or community facilities. The ARC is currently in discussions with the Appellant and other parties who have joined the appeal.
