The preferred route to our destination

A successful journey involves three things: a clear destination, the right route and mode to get there. In Auckland, deciding which route to travel, and whether to go by car, train, bus, ferry, bike or foot are just some of the factors considered.

We've undertaken a similar exercise to compare and contrast the different routes the transport system could develop to its destination. There's no silver bullet to providing sustainable travel choices for a population set to almost double by 2051. What we've put together combines investment in all types of transport, making better use of what we already have and prioritising infrastructure projects that close strategic gaps in the network and improve its efficiency.
