Your chance to have a say

Your feedback on the draft Regional Land Transport Strategy (RLTS) is important.  Please tell us what you think during the consultation period, between now and Friday 18 December 2009.  There are five main questions to consider.

  • Do you agree with the long-term strategy contained in the RLTS?
  • How do you think the required spending on transport in Auckland should be funded (who should pay)?
  • What other ways could we raise funds?
  • Do you think the strategy will be enough to deliver the contribution need from transport to energy and climate change issues?
  • What other policy approaches should have we considered?

Process after submissions close

In early 2010 all submitters will have the opportunity to speak at a hearing sub-committee of the Regional Transport Committee (RTC).

What happens after that:

  • The hearing sub-committee will then recommend to the Auckland RTC to accept or refuse any submissions, give reasons why and recommend changes to the strategy.
  • The Auckland RTC will then recommend to the Auckland Regional Council to adopt the Regional Land Transport Strategy for the Auckland region.
